Remembrance Day is an opportunity to pay homage to veterans and members of the Canadian Armed Forces, who act as guardians of our homeland and our shared values. It is with honour and humility that Senator Diane Bellemare paid tribute to our nation’s heroes at a Remembrance Day ceremony held in Outremont, Quebec.

“Still today, members of the Canadian Armed Forces continue to risk their lives in battle to maintain peace in the world. We thank them for their acts of bravery in volatile situations. We also thank them for responding to a range of natural disasters this year, including forest fires, floods and hurricanes that were unleashed in the context of climate change,” she said.

This year, during a ceremony held at the Outremont Park Cenotaph on Friday, November 10, Senator Bellemare paid tribute to a distinguished veteran from Outremont.

“I salute Major-General Terry Liston, who is here today, for his lifelong commitment to the Canadian Armed Forces. He is proof of the excellence of Canada’s military and continues to be a force for change in our community. The kindness shown by our nation’s military community reflects the generosity of the Canadian people,” she said.

“To those who are here, to those who are overseas and to those who are no longer with us, I would like to express sincere gratitude to our men and women in uniform, past and present. Dear soldiers, Canada could not be prouder of you. Let us never forget,” Bellemare said.
