GRO grows to five members

Senator Sandra Pupatello (Ontario) has been named Chair of the GRO in the Senate.

Senator Sandra Pupatello (Ontario) is Chair of the Government Representative’s Office in the Senate.

The Government Representative’s Office (GRO) in the Senate is welcoming a new member from Ontario, further increasing regional representation.

Senator Pupatello, a former Ontario cabinet minister with experience in economic development and global trade, joins a team from across Canada.

  • Senator Pierre Moreau (Quebec) is the Government Representative in the Senate.
  • Senator Patti LaBoucane-Benson (Alberta) is Legislative Deputy.
  • Senator Iris Petten (Newfoundland and Labrador) is Government Liaison.
  • Senator Pat Duncan (Yukon) is Deputy Government Liaison.
  • Senator Sandra Pupatello (Ontario) is Chair of the Government Representative’s Office in the Senate.

“If we are to overcome the challenges we face and focus on delivering major projects that will connect our communities, we must work closely with the provinces, the territories and Indigenous Peoples. We need to row in the same direction,” Senator Moreau said. “Senator Pupatello brings more than 30 years of experience in public service to her new role. Her corporate leadership and community engagement will be valuable and indispensable assets to the team.”

“It is an honour to join the GRO at this pivotal moment in our country’s history. I look forward to working with my colleagues as this is a unique opportunity to strengthen Canada’s economy through trade diversification, both domestically and internationally,” Senator Pupatello said.
