So far, four Government bills have become law during the 45th Parliament and one more is awaiting Royal Assent.

A bill must be adopted in the same form in both the House of Commons and the Senate before it can receive Royal Assent, the last step in the legislative process that allows a bill to become law.

The following is a list of Government bills and the date each bill received Royal Assent in the 45th Parliament (May 26, 2025 to present).

 

Bill C-5: The One Canadian Economy Act (June 26, 2025)

Sponsor: Senator Hassan Yussuff

  • This legislation would eliminate federal barriers to interprovincial trade, improve labour mobility within Canada and unlock nation-building projects.

 

Bill C-6: Appropriation Act No. 1, 2025-26 (June 26, 2025)

Sponsor: Senator Patti LaBoucane-Benson

  • This enactment grants the sum of $149,771,149,015 towards defraying charges and expenses of the federal public administration for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026.

 

Bill C-7: Appropriation Act No. 2, 2025-26 (June 26, 2025)

Sponsor: Senator Patti LaBoucane-Benson

  • This enactment grants the sum of $8,580,271,678 towards defraying charges and expenses of the federal public administration for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026.

 

Bill C-3: An Act to amend the Citizenship Act (2025) (November 20, 2025)

Sponsor: Senator Mary Coyle

  • This legislation would extend access to citizenship by descent beyond the first generation. Once passed, it will automatically confer citizenship by descent to all those born abroad to a Canadian parent before the coming into force date of the legislation.
